KEY PRIORITIES

The Social Engagement and Community Empowerment Project (SEACEP) in Gunnedah, New South Wales, was funded by the NSW Reconstruction Authority, to lead efforts targeting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. As part of this project, a Community Wellbeing Strategy was developed in consultation with the community. This strategy identified eight key priorities for the Gunnedah Community. These priorities include addressing houselessness, family and domestic violence, youth issues, mental health concerns, disabilities, drug, and alcohol abuse, fostering connection to culture and community and general social support.

Gunida Gunyah fully endorses the key priorities identified through the Aboriginal Community Connection and Wellbeing Strategy. The strategy emphasizes a shared responsibility among various stakeholders to ensure the well-being of the Aboriginal community. By prioritizing collaboration, the strategy aims to address the unique challenges faced by Aboriginal people and provide them with the necessary support and resources. Gunida Gunyah is committed to working closely with the relevant authorities, community organizations, and individuals to implement the strategy and achieve its objectives. By doing so, we hope to create a brighter future for the Aboriginal community and foster stronger connections within the wider community.
