Staying Home Leaving Violence SHLV

You don’t have to leave your home to escape violence. We’re here to help you stay safe where you are.

The Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV) program supports women and children who have left a violent relationship but want to stay safely in their own home or community.

We understand that starting over can be scary - especially when kids, housing, money and safety are all on the line. Our SHLV team walks alongside you to make a safety plan, support your healing, and help you move forward without violence.

Who is this for?

This program is for women (and their children) who:

  • Have separated from a violent partner, or are planning to

  • Are no longer living with the perpetrator

  • Want to stay in their home, or need help finding safe housing

  • Live in Gunnedah or surrounding areas

What support can I get?

Every person’s situation is different, so we work with you to figure out what you need. Some of the things we can help with include:

🛡️ Safety planning
🔐 Security upgrades like locks, cameras, and sensor lights
🏠 Support to stay at home, or help finding somewhere safe to live
💬 Case management, counselling, and emotional support
🧸 Support for your children
⚖️ Help with ADVOs, court, and legal issues
💰 Emergency help with food, clothing, transport or Centrelink
🌿 Connection to Aboriginal or culturally safe services
